The healthcare industry is a major economic segment in the Brainerd Lakes Area. Essentia Health in Brainerd/Baxter and the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby are strong and growing facilities that have excellent reputations for the high level of care they provide. As two of the biggest employers in the Brainerd Lakes Area, they continue to attract quality healthcare providers and employees who are drawn to this area for its quality of life

Essentia, CRMC lead the way

Essentia Health, the major healthcare employer in Central Minnesota, continues to expand its services. It currently operates the St. Joseph's Medical Center, the Brainerd Medical Center and will soon open a new clinic in Baxter. It's also home to the Brainerd Lakes Heart and Vascular Center, which employs three cardiologists.

Cuyuna Regional, which includes a hospital, clinic, the Minnesota Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery, and the Minneapolis Heart Institute-Crosby, also continues to expand and is the major employer in the Crosby-Ironton-Deerwood area.
