Tell me about your company
The Brainerd Center of Minnesota Teen challenge opened in June 2008.Approximately 50 students (men – 18 and older) are in the 13 to 15 month program at any given time. About 20 employees care for, teach and mentor the students on a 24/7 basis. A licensed outpatient treatment program recently opened to serve women and men who struggle with addiction but may not need or be ready for a year-long program.

Why is your company located in the Brainerd Lakes Area?

Due to the serious addiction problems witnessed by the law enforcement community, a Teen Challenge center was deemed essential for central Minnesota.

Tell me about you
|
I have worked as the Development Director for almost two years. Prior to that I was in the marine and fishing tackle industries for more than 30 years, including 18 years with In-Fisherman as Executive Director of the Professional Walleye Trail. I also ran a weekly newspaper for four years in central Wisconsin, after two years in Vietnam with the US Navy. I graduated from UW-Madison with a journalism degree.
