Essential Functions:

  • Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Independently manage the accuracy and timely closing of the general ledger each month.
  • Prepare, analyze and report timely and accurate monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Prepare journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations and management reporting as well as supporting schedules for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.
  • Run bi-weekly payroll and work with vendor for accurate tax reporting, W-2s, etc.
  • Complete all changes in Human Resources Information System and manage employee files.
  • Serve as the organization’s Human Resources contact including employee relations, worker’s compensation, OSHA, etc.
  • Manage and administer employee benefits working with a benefit broker.
  • Assist in ensuring accounting controls are in place and operating effectively. Maintain internal control documentation including documentation of new controls, changes in controls and spreadsheet security.
  • Ensure all revenue and expense related activity is accurately reported.
  • Ensure financial accounts are reconciled, with any issues investigated and resolved timely enabling accurate financial reporting.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with third party auditors for audits.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

 

Desired Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or University in Accounting with five or more years of hands-on accounting experience.
  • Working knowledge and experience with general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, income tax and banking.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word and Outlook is required.
  • Experience with a manufacturing ERP system is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Human Resources including payroll and benefit administration.
  • Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively complete accurate accounting for a wide variety of business-related transactions.
  • Detail oriented approach to work, confidentiality, good problem-solving skills along with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Must be self-motivated, with the ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to deliver quality work on tight deadlines, with strong organization and priority setting skills.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in managing sales tax.
  • Proficiency with managing processes, using a robust accounting software system.
  • Analytical ability to develop and implement solutions, improvements, and recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience performing functions efficiently and accurately with minimal direct supervision.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with owners, senior managers, and all other employees.
  • Must have integrity and discretion in safeguarding confidential information.

Work Environment

  • Professional, clean and organized office environment.
  • Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).

 

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
  • Light to moderate lifting is required to perform tasks.
  • Walk, bend, twist, kneel, and reach occasionally.
  • Sit at a desk with a computer for extended periods of time.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a salaried exempt position with regular M-F 8-5 hours.
  • Extra hours may be required to meet deadlines (month/quarter/year-end)
