POSITION TITLE:
Ambulatory Surgery Center Administrator (Status Exemption)

ROLE:

Responsible for the successful management and operation of Brainerd Lakes Surgery Center (BLSC). Provide physicians with all the resources and services necessary to meet the needs of patients and meet the financial objectives of the surgery center. Position needs to be in the Clinic, no remote work option is available.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Develops proper clinical procedures that ensure patient safety, comfort, and quality.
Develops appropriate admission and discharge procedures and assures that pre-admission criteria are appropriately met.

Evaluates ongoing patient care and reports significant patient problems to appropriate team members.
Collaborates with Medical Director and Board of Directors to ensure personnel policy development and communication to staff to achieve consistency in labor and employee relations.
Serves as resource and role model for staff.
Selects and hires employees according to established guidelines; Monitors, coaches, develop and evaluate performance of staff on an ongoing basis in accordance with applicable performance standards. Assures compliance with all Clinic policies and procedures and governmental regulations pertaining to:
• Controlled substances and legend drugs, including sample medications.
• Infection control.
• Patient confidentiality.
• CPR, ACLS, safety and risk management in collaboration with Medical Director.
• Quality improvements and quality assurance.

• Emergency codes and evacuation
• Professional licensure
• DOH, Medicare JCAHO/AAAHC, MQC and all other voluntary and regulatory requirements.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Board of Directors, physicians, employees, vendors, and community contacts.

Supports and promotes a positive image of BLSC when communicating with patients and others inside and outside the organization.

Manages all schedules efficiently: ORs, cases, surgeons, anesthesia, clinical support staff, materials (supplies and medications), environmental services and contracted support services.

Plans, evaluates, recommends, and implements new capital and other initiatives when appropriate.

Researches and implements appropriate staffing ratio, materials management ratio, accounts receivable ratio and prepares cost reduction proposals as applicable.

Monitors patient service feedback and contributes to the process of resolving complaints and service issues.

Highly motivated and ability to multi-task efficiently under demanding situations. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Preferred graduate from an accredited program: Masters in Nursing OR Masters in Health Care Administration OR Masters in Business Administration

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: 3-5 years’ experience in a surgical setting, preferably ASC experience

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 2 years’ experience in a healthcare management experience,

TALKING: Ability to speak effectively and communicate clearly.
AVERAGE HEARING: Able to hear average conversations.
REPETITIVE MOTION: The employee is regularly required to type continuously throughout the day.
FINGER DEXTERITY: The employee is regularly required to use hands to type.
AVERAGE VISION: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color
vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
PHYSICAL STRENGTH: The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. May sit for long periods of time.

MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to deal with a variety of variables under only limited
standardization
MATHEMATICS ABILITY: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers and common fractions.
LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret medical documents. Ability to communicate clearly.
